Karnataka is one of the most favorite destinations of students for higher education. At present, there are more than 130 colleges in Karnataka for Economics at the UG level. The degrees are either BA Economics or BSc Economics. This article will focus on the top best colleges of the state, in terms of internationally benchmarked education, research-based curriculum, job opportunities, and so on.

1) Christ University, Bengaluru

Christ University is considered as India’s best private deemed university, offering various UG and PG programs in Science, Arts & Commerce. The University was established in the year 1969 and is approved by the UGC and AICTE. Christ University/college offers both BSc in Economics, Mathematics and Statistics (EMS) and BA in Economics (both Regular and Honours). There are no entrance exams as such for these programs, and admissions are done on the basis of merit achieved in class 12. However, for BSc EMS, students need to appear for a skill test and a personal interview once passed the merit criterion.

2) St. Joseph’s College, SJC Bengaluru

St Joseph’s College Bengaluru, is one of the leading private autonomous colleges of India. SJC Bengaluru was set up in the year 1882 and it is accredited with grade “A++” by NAAC and is now affiliated with the Bangalore University. St. Aloysius College is a private college with the autonomous state (since 2007) in Mangalore, which was established in the year 1880. The college is accredited by NAAC with a grade of “A” and is affiliated to Mangalore University. It offers various UG and PG degrees and as far as Economics is concerned, the college offers Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Again, the admissions are based only on the merit obtained in class 12.

Kristu Jayanti College is a leading private college in the city. KJC Bengaluru offers several UG and PG degree programs in the streams of Sciences, Commerce, Management, Humanities, and so on. KJC Bengaluru came into existence in the year 1999 and has the status of autonomy. Being approved by AICTE and BCI, it is affiliated with the Bangalore University (BU), Bengaluru. Jain University is a privately deemed university, which was established in the year 1990. Jain University is known for its varied degree programs across different domains. The university was ranked 101 according to NIRF, in the overall category. BSc in Economics is one of the 30 subjects that JU offers under the umbrella of BSc programs. The admissions for the BSc programs are granted as per performance in Jain Entrance Test (JET), conducted by Jain University.
