MAH CET Exam Pattern :  MAH CET or Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is a highly competitive state-level entrance examination for admission to management courses in MBA colleges Maharashtra. The exam is conducted by the State Common Entrance Cell or CET Cell.

Students can participate in MAH CET to seek admission into management programs like MBA, MMS and other courses. These programs will be offered by government and private institutions like JBIMS, SIMSREE, PUMBA, Prin L.N Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research.

The MAH CET exam pattern has evolved over the years. It is important for candidates to stay updated with the latest pattern to prepare accordingly. As of my knowledge cutoff date in September 2021, here is the exam pattern for MAH CET:

  1. Mode of Exam:
  • MAH CET is a computer-based test (CBT), which means that candidates take the exam on a computer at designated test centers.

2. Time Duration:

  • Candidates are given a time duration of 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) to complete the entire test.

3. Marking Scheme:

  • MAH CET follows a scoring system where each correct answer is awarded 1 mark.

4. No Negative Marking:

  • One of the unique aspects of MAH CET is that there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. This means that candidates are not penalized for guessing.

5. Sectional Time Limits:

  • As of 2021, there was no specified sectional time limit. Candidates could choose how they wanted to distribute their time among the four sections.

6. Difficulty Level:

  • The difficulty level of MAH CET questions is usually considered moderate, with an emphasis on testing candidates’ problem-solving abilities and time management skills.

7. Language of the Exam:

  • The exam is conducted in the English language.

Sections and Total Questions

The MAH CET exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) divided into four sections. These sections are:

    • Logical Reasoning
    • Abstract Reasoning
    • Quantitative Aptitude
    • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

The total number of questions in MAH CET can vary from year to year but typically ranges from 200 to 220 questions.

Scoring and Ranking

MAH CET does not disclose individual raw scores to candidates. Instead, it provides percentile scores. These percentile scores are used to rank candidates for admission.

Minimum Marks: For General category candidates: Usually, a minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required in the qualifying examination and for Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) – a minimum of 45% aggregate marks is required in the qualifying examination.

Final Year Candidates: Candidates appearing for the final year of their bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination may also apply. though they need to submit the required documents at the time of admission.

Age Limit: There is no specific age limit to apply for MAH CET.

Understand the Syllabus: Begin by thoroughly understanding the syllabus and the topics covered in each section.

Time Management: As there is no sectional time limit, practice time management during your mock tests to ensure you allocate enough time to each section.

Mock Tests: Take full-length mock tests regularly to simulate the actual exam environment. Analyze your performance in these tests to identify areas that need improvement.

Speed and Accuracy: MAH CET demands both speed and accuracy. Strive to strike a balance between solving questions quickly and ensuring they are correct.

Stay Updated: Stay updated with current affairs and general knowledge as they are often tested in reading comprehension passages.

Stay Calm: On the day of the exam, stay calm and composed. Avoid last-minute cramming and focus on what you’ve learned during your preparation.

No Negative Marking Advantage: Remember that there is no negative marking in MAH CET. So, attempt all questions, even if you are unsure about some.

  • Questions may range from basic to moderate difficulty.

4. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension:

  • This section assesses a candidate’s command over the English language.
  • It includes questions on vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension passages.
  • Reading comprehension passages can be on various topics, including business, economics, and social issues.

Ans. The duration of MAH CET 2023 exam is 150 minutes or 2.5 hours. Candidates have to attempt 200 questions in this time duration.

Ans. No, there is no negative marking for any wrong answers. Also, there is no deduction of marks for unattempted questions.

Ans. The Logical Reasoning section has the highest weightage of 75 marks. Candidates must note that there will be 75 questions carrying 1 mark each.
