Hi,

At the outset, right away, I would like to tell you that no one is perfect in this world and there is an enough space to improve yourself overtimes.  Improvement and the quest for perfection is never ending process and you must not blame yourself for being not perfect or not up to the mark and even for lacking some skill-sets at some point of time in your life as I already have told you that you would be getting toward perfection only thing required is that you must believe in yourself and must stick to the decision whatever you take, religiously by any means and success will be yours.

You said you worked in the certain company but you didn’t make it to last long in that very employment. It happens, you are not alone who did not well or underperformed in their work field, there are many and the list may include the very famous names of the corporate world who in their initial phase had not been up to the mark but now they have raised the empire of their own from scratch. Your query says that you have been trying for Government Sector Jobs and it is pretty good I would say but still, I have some words for you that your any decision must be informed so that it will be easy for you to stick to it in every adverse situation. We will discuss the topic from both angles – your career in your education field in Private Sector and in the Government Sector.

Career in Private Sector

You said you have already tried your hands in Private Sector in Mechanical Engineering Consultancy Company so you might have got idea about the work culture and related aspects in private sector jobs. I would enlist some of the things which are required to be inculcated and applied for getting success in private sector employment. Then let us come to the point –

  • Honesty and Integrity at work – This is the essential thing and you must be honest and with integrity at your workplace. Be consistent in your principles and see everyone would be appreciating you. Honesty always pays off so always be honest!
  • Confidence in yourself – Without confidence, nothing can be done or happened. Confidence is the key to success. Hesitation and ambiguity would always lead to nothing and you would end up having no results but the waste of time, money, and mental disturbances.
  • Reliability – Be on time in terms of your work so that you would be reliable for others and you would be entrusted with new responsibilities which can help you promote yourself in the corporate ladder.
  • Being positive – Be Positive. It helps maintain good work culture and harmony. Pessimistic and negative thoughts are always harmful in a way or another. Positive behavior also would motivate others and the overall result would be a great one and supportive to the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Supportive to others – Supporting colleagues at your workplace will make difference and will let you have friends for a lifetime. Good relation with colleagues enriches your friendship with them and you would feel like in family while at the workplace which in turn would help grow your company and your position too.
  • Self-upgrading – You must upgrade and update yourself periodically with new skill-sets and methods that are required in the corporate world. Indeed you must go with time for the very development and progress of the company depend on it. It also helps you maintain your credibility and reliability.
  • Competence – being in continuous learning would increase your competence. Competence would help you perform your job well. Always give importance to competence building.
  • Respect for others – Always be polite and have respect for your colleague. Respecting others will make you respected in return.
  • Listening others carefully – Be a good listener, it helps save time, raise no issues afterward. The colleagues would always find interest to talk to you when you become a good listener.
  • Focus on work – Most important thing - Be focused. Complete your work in due time, ready to accept new responsibilities. Always be in learning the process and learn from your mistakes and failures.

Dear Aspirant, the above things will certainly make difference in you and you will never be meted with the Circumstances like unexpected firing from a job. You can again think of your educational field as a career field but with new vigor. Now let us discuss your preparation for government jobs.

Career in Government Sector

Being one of the stable career options for many, Government sector jobs have become popular these days and cross-academic students are applying some of the generalist posts like IAS/IPS or for Banking Jobs. You even have alternatives to do specialist jobs in Government Sector like in engineering field, UPSC holds IES-Indian Engineering Services Exam which you can try for. Some of the Governments Sector Job options are enlisted below –

  • UPSC conducted exams
  • SSB Exams
  • PSU offered jobs
  • IBPS and Banking Jobs
  • State government – SPSC conducted exams
  • Various Departmental separate exams – at State and Centre level

You know, generally, there is high competition for the government sector posts and you would invariably be competing with other competitors for these posts. You are required to be persistent in the study for longer time sometimes as the competitive exams are altogether different from academic exams.

Dear aspirant, the dilemma you speak about will never last any longer if you decide and stick to the certain things.  You have the backup plan in the form of your academic knowledge in Mechanical Engineering so if you are thinking of Government Jobs then do so but with dedication putting your best efforts in place.
