What kind of career do you imagine for yourself doctor, lawyers, scientist, engineers, salesperson, a degree in bio medical engineering will prepare you for all these professions and many more. bio medical engineers use their expertise in biology, medicine, physics and engineering science to make the world a healthier place. the challenges created by the diversity and complexity of living systems require creative, knowledgeable and imaginative people working in teams of physicians, scientists, engineers to monitor , restore and enhance normal body function., the bio medical engineer is ideally trained to work at the intersection of science, medicine and mathematics to solve biological and medical problems. to become professor of bio medical engineering one need to have post graduate degree in bio medical sciences followed by PhD. there are various areas of specializations within the field of bio medical engineering such as bioinformatics, materialists, bio mechanics, bio signal processing, biotechnology, clinical engineering, genomics, bio instrumentation, orthopedic engineering etc. bioinformatics involves developing and using computer tools to collect and analyze data related to medicine and biology.biomaterials relates to producing materials from both living tissues that artificial material to replace diseased organs.the engineering make devices are functionally true copies of the organs which are to be replaced. they are capable of growing organs from tissues and cells in the laboratory. bio mechanics involves application of mechanics to biological problems, medical problems and study the flow of bodily fluids in order to decide the specification for the various devices such as artificial joint replacement, pace makers etc. bio signal processing involves extracting useful information from biological signals from diagnostics and therapeutic purposes. this could mean studying cardiac signals to determine whether or not a patient will be susceptible to sudden cardiac death, developing speech recognition systems that can cope with background noise or detecting features of brain signals that can be used to control a computer. researchers in bio material work to develop substances that are better suited to interact with living tissue.

Dear aspirant

Bio Medical Engineer

thank you for approaching counsellors at careerguide.com. i appreciate your interest in becoming a professor. It is a highly reputable and responsible profession and good you choose it. to become a professor of any subject, it is essential to go through the basic educational requirement that our country demands, and for that ideally a Doctorate degree in required. therefore you should choose to study a Doctorate degree to become a Professor of Bio medical engineering. Let me explain you step by step on how to reach this PhD stage now.
  • First pass 10th class with a mandatory subject science and maths.
  • Pass 12th class with the mandatory subject biology and maths. Students are therefore adviced to choose PCMB route that mentions Physics Chemistry maths and Biology. For students from international schools, if they have already chosen to studysomeothersubjectsinplaceofphysicsand chemistry, itisfine, however maths and biology are compulsory mostoften.
  • Pass a basic bachelors degree related to bio medical engineering. therefore it is advisable to study only these courses like BSc Biomedical science, BSc Medical technology, BSc Biotechnology with biomedical science,

BTech Biotechnology with biomedical engineering and BTech Biomedical engineering. If you choose BSc courses, maths is not actually required at 12th level and if you choose BTech courses maths is compulsory. A minimum overall pass of 60% first class is appreciable.

  • Pass a masters degree course in the same level. That is if you have chosen BSc biomedical science then you can study MSc Biomedical science and similarly with the BTech Mtech channels. After completing Masters, you can appear and qualify in either of these three examinations UGC NET, UGC SET or UGC LEC. With being qualified in either of these exams will make you eligible for lecturer jobs and after five years of tenure you can be promoted to assistant professor level.
  • Otherwise students also choose to go through the professional route known as the Doctorate level like the PhD. You can do a PhD in Biomedical science or biomedical engineering. To be eligibleto apply for a PhD, you need tohavewritten and be qualified with UGC NET/ UGC CSIR exams. If you want to study at IIT'sthen Gate and UGC NET are mandatory. If you also want toearna monthly stipend through out the PhD thenUGC JRF is most often important. With these qualifications and competitive exam results you can apply for a PhD andcompletingit you are directly qualified as an Assistant professor, if you are a reputableuniversity pass out. aND WITHIN 2-3 years depending on your annual performance you will be promoted to a Professor role.

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. All the best.
