The shortest answer is NO. However, I think that you have asked this question here because you want to know the longer answer. So, sit back and read on to know all about BBA, and who can opt for the course.

What is BBA?

If you are aware of the course structure of BBA, you can skip to the next heading, if not, read on. BBA stands for Bachelor of Business Administration, and as the name suggests, the course will teach you the basics of Business Management. It is a 3-year course and some of the topics covered under the course are Finance, Operations Management, Human Resources, Marketing etc. It also teaches students skills of Entrepreneurship as well as those required to manage a business.

Who can choose BBA?

Anyone who is interested in being an Entrepreneur and needs to have Business Management skills can opt for this course. From a job perspective, the types of job you can get majorly include that of a Business Consultant, Operations Manager, Financial Analyst, Human Resources Manager and others. However, going for further studies after completing BBA may be the better choice, as BBA alone does not provide an in-depth knowledge of every topic you will be studying. But opting for MBA is a very good choice after BBA.

You don’t necessarily have to be a commerce student to study BBA. It is not a stream specific course and also not limited to any one stream. Although some students may face a little bit of difficulty in the beginning, depending on the stream they studied in 11-12th, but it is nothing major, or something that even an average student cannot handle.

Eligibility Criteria

Although eligibility varies depending on the college, usually candidates scoring above 60% marks in their Senior Secondary Examination are eligible to apply for admission. Apart from that, some colleges also conduct an entrance examination to make sure that only the most talented students study in their campuses. Getting into one of these colleges may be difficult, but the rewards are great too. Here is a list of the top colleges in India which offer BBA courses to students –

  • Christ University, Bengaluru
  • ShaheedSukhdev College of Business Studies, New Delhi
  • University of Mumbai, Mumbai
  • Indraprastha University, Delhi

Lastly, I would like to add that always follow your heart and let it take you wherever it wants because if you love what you’re doing, it won’t feel like working and that will fetch you excellent results.

What should you do?

If you are someone who has plans to start your own business, BBA followed by an MBA would be a great choice. Even for a job, it is a great career option as there are plenty of opportunities available. However, if you are someone who is more interested in a more orthodox field of study, or you want to study a specific subject in details, you may look for other options related to your stream.
