Dear Aspirant, you have asked the scope, does it mean the job opportunities of money potentioal. A biologist in India could be a botanist, zoologist, microbiologist, biotechnologist, biochemist, pharmacologist, environmental scientist or biomedical engineer / scientist. The scope of biolgist in India is both in government sector (universities, institutes, colleges, school) as well as in multinational companies and private organization (companies, private universities).

It depends upon your interst where do you wish to work, if you wish to work in government organization, then your entry point will be as lecturer, Assistant Professor or Assistant Scientist. Practically speaking there are still large job opportunities in India in government sector. If a person is having good acdemic record then he or she can make a place in government sector.

In private universities such as Amity, LPU, and many more, there are lot of job opportunities as teacher and researcher. Here growth rate is very fast compared to government sector. In government sector there is time bound promotion, but in private universities of private companies, there is performance based promotion.

As a biologist you may work as scientist, researcher, manager or technical person in multinational companies or private companies. Here definitely job opportunities are more compared to government sector. If selected in these companies, the salary is also more compared to goernment sector.

Regarding job opportunities in USA and other western countries, obviously the job opportunities are also more compared to India. But the competition is severe. In USA and other western universities you have to have a post doctoral fellowship (PDF degree ) after doctoral degree. Here you may also diversify your field. If you are working on molecular biology then you may change your field and work on animals, humans.
