Hi Sahil,

Mechanical Engg is one the most commonly opted branch and it also provides good placements, wide working opportunities and interesting study curriculum.
After completing mechanical engineering you have lots of opportunities either in terms of higher studies or job.
Since there is a very huge competition for job in the market, you can only get a job in core companies only if you have good percentage/CGPA. You can also apply in these PSU’s like:

  • BPCL
  • HPCL
  • SAIL
  • GAIL
  • ONGC
  • NTPC

These PSU’s now a day’s recruit on the basis of GATE score and a personal interview by themselves. So, you should start preparing for GATE examination, if you want to get into PSU. Minimum CGPA required for PSU is 6.
Another option for you is IES. For IES, electrical, civil engineering & mechanical students are eligible to apply. There is no minimum CGAP requirement for this exam.
Age limit for IAS exam is 21 to 30 years.

Next option you have is either MS or MTech, Many students are now a day’s going for higher education as it also helps in getting better employment opportunities.

If you are planning for studying abroad, then you have to apply for GRE and TOFEL examinations. For getting admission in good university or college you need to score good in GRE, but you will also have to get recommendation letters, research projects certificates etc.

Dear Aspirant,

You may choose to work in India or you may choose to do a MS abroad and start working there.

Pursuing a post graduation in India or abroad is highly recommended for a better and stable career.

Scope in Mechanical Engineering is tremendous work wide. Just ensure you to also get some additional skills like Project Management, IT, soft skills, etc to make your resume strong.

Best wishes
