Dear career aspirant

Welcome to CareerGuide.com
We guide you through to a proper career

I being a clinical and educational psychologist as well as a career guide, come across numerous such people who are unble to decide their course of action after Tenth or twelfth. The soluion to this problem must be given after considering so many credentials like skills, attitude, personality, cultural background, future career goals and career perspectives, job market current and futuristic etc. There fore such a task is really a tough one.

There shall be a lot of advisers to the student at this juncture. Friends, colleagues, parents, techers and even bystanders advice students in career aspect. But all these advices are general and never specific. Therefore utmost care needs to be taken while zeroing on into a career options after 10th.

As I had alredy mentioned in preious paragraph, skills, attitude, aptitude, personality, cultural background, future career goals, job market are all important. But fo the time being, you are just in tenth standard. For the time being we shall concentrate on your skills and aptitudes and select a future educational pathway based on those. Rest of the selectionn and specialities shall be selected later, after twelfth.

You need to take a psychometric assessment test or assessment tool which brings out your talents, skills and aptitude along with personality. Once you know all these, you can select yourcareer goal and select the stream you are good at.Such tests are available in this website itself.

God bless you.

This has been a common question that I get to hear among students at your age. So dont worry, we are here to advise you on this. This question actually comes up in mind because you are not clear of the path you want to take in higher secondary school level and at college level. There is a simple strategy to sort out this question. Here it goes,

1. Medical:
If you wanted to become a Doctor or a Dentist, Physiotherapist then this is the path you should take. For this you should compulsorily study English, a second language, Biology, Physics and Chemistry at school level. This is often known as first group - pure science group. After you finish schooling form this group, you can study the following courses
MBBS
BDS
BPharm
Bachelor of physiotherapy
BAMS
BHMS
BSc Clinical Psychology
BSc Optometry
BSc Medical lab technology

2. Engineering:
If you wanted to become an Engineer, then you should choose this group - Physics, Chemistry, Maths plus an extra subject of your choice. So students often choose Biology or computer science or electronics as an option here. If you graduate from this set of subjects, you can study the following courses at BE/ BTech in college level
Electronics and communications
Electrical engineering
Mechanical engineering
Chemical engineering
Architecture
Computer engineering
Biotechnology
Industrial biotechnology
Environmental engineering
Production engineering
Manufacturing engg and management
Information tech and management
Bio informatics
Bio medical engg
Civil engg and so on.

3. Commerce:
If you choose to study commerce or economics at college level then you should study Commerce, Economics, Business maths at school level. This way you can study
Economics
Bachelor of business management
Bachelor of business admin
BCom
BCom with finance, accounts, human resources, banking.

4. Arts:
If you dont want to go to either of the groups then you can choose to study
English
Languages
English literarture
Foreign literature
Tourism management
Sociology
Counselling psychology
Fashion designing
Interior designing
Law
History
Geography
Maths
Catering technology and many more.

MBA:
This is an ultimate destination that can take you, without bothering what was your subject at college level. So if you are from

Medical then you can do Hospital management.

If you are from engineering or commerce then you can do an MBA with accounts, finance, Human resources, Marketing, Operations management, project management, supply chain and many more.

If you are from the fashion industry, you can do MBA fashion management

If you are from interior designing, you can do MBA with interior designing and so on.

If you are from arts, an MBA with human resources, organisational behavior or marketing will suit you.

You should choose what you want from the above. I hope this helps.

Dear Aspirant,

Choosing a subject should always depend on your capability, skills acquired and acumen. If one chooses on the basis of these aspects, then I am sure that you can be successful.

10th standard level is an important level and choosing the right stream is important and critical. Choosing a stream should primarily be dependent on the subjects you like the most in your 10th std.

To be best sure of what suits you for your career, I would suggest you to undergo a Psychometric Career Assessment test from CareerGuide which will help you understand yourself in respect of your strengths, weaknesses, emotional quotient, etc. and will exactly tell you which stream is good for you.
