Hello

After 10th, students normally enter higher secondary education. This HSC usually branches out in three ways. Students most often only get split across these groups.

1. PCB - Physics, Chemistry and BiologyIf you choose this route you are eligible to study three year non-professional science subjects at degree level. Therefore you can study a BSc degree in Physics, chemistry, biology, botany, Zoology, Bio chemistry, Biotechnology including industrial, medical, nano biotechnology, Bio informatics, medical technology, genetics, micro biology, molecular biology, Psychology and Sociology. Completing the BSc, you can progress to do an MSc and then finalise your career with a highest academic degree known as the PhD.

1.1 PCMB - Physics, Chemistry, maths and BiologyIf you choose this group then you are definitely qualified to study a professional Engineering degree. As Maths is the main subject to qualify you for an Engineering subject. Therefore you can study BE/ BTech in Biotechnology, Bio informatics, Bio medical engineering, Electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, Bachelor of pharmacy, Aeronautical engineering, Automobile engineering, Aerospace engineering, Architecture and Civil engineering. Completing the B.E/ B.Tech you can progress to do M.E/ M.Tech and then finally a PhD.

2. Computer science - PCCM Physics, chemistry, computer science, mathsIf you choose this stream you can become a Computer Engineer/ Information technologist or a Software Engineer in future. Maths and Computer science are important subjects at school level to qualify you for studying an Engineering subject related to Computer science. You can also study any of the above mentioned Engineering degrees except the Bio oriented disciplines.

2.1 PCC Physics, chemistry and Computer scienceThis stream qualify you for studying a non-professional degree that are a three year science based like the BSc Computer science, BCA Bacelor of computer applications and BSc Information technology. Completing the Bachelors you can choose to study MCA/ MSc and then a PhD. This stream also qualifies you to work in the IT sector.

3. Commerce with Economics/ Business:Students choosing this stream will study Commerce, Economics, Accounts, Finance, Business and Business maths as common subjects. After this group, you can choose to study BCom, BA Economics or even BBA Bachelor of business administration. Later you can study MCom/ MA/ MSc in related Bachelors subjects or even progress to professional careers like the PhD/ CA/ CS/ CFA.

4. PCM - Physics chemistry and maths:This is a typical science stream but without concentration in Biology. Students who want to study BSc Physics, chemistry and maths often choose this route. Completing the BSc, you can progress to do MSc and then a PhD.

Apart from the ones mentioned above, irrelevant to your background, you can study the following subjects if you have compulsorily studied Maths and English until 12th class and they are BA English, Visual communications, Political science,Fashion designing, jewellery designing, pottery making, handicrafts, interior designing, textile designing, web designing, multimedia and graphics, furniture designing and many more.Hope this helps.
