Hi,

I really dont think that this question is valid for any of the field or profession as it all depends on an individuals performance, expertise, skills, interest, and many other external factors. You own and control your earnings after a specified period and not others.

If you are good at your work and best among peers, then in terms of salary you can go as high as 10-15 salary per year and in case you are not performing well then you might be struggling to even keep your jobs.

Other factors that are very important in terms of future salary are:
- location of job
- company where you are working
- type of writing you are doing (if you are writing hardcore technical docs - not just simple user guides, then salary is more)
- tools you are using
- your contribution towards company - is it acknowledged or not

and all these things. You can also refer to stc-india salary survey for more details.

I hope this ans your question and wish you all the best for a great career in the technical writing field. Keep in mind - that you own your career and its progress.
