Importance of Communication Skills

In almost every profession one need to have good communication skills. Whether you are an artist, a doctor, an engineer or in any other field, you need to be well aware by what you say and how you say it.

Human beings are naturally social beings. We have been communicating with each other since history. We communicate in variety of ways; besides the actual words, tone of voice and body language are just as important. The way we deliver our message makes us more persuasive.  With good communication skills, even a bad news can be delivered less painfully. We control our environment by our ability to communicate.

BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) is an undergraduate course where communication skills do play a very crucial role. The main objectives of theinstitution offering BBA is to make the candidate an efficient entrepreneur, gain good communication skills, gain the attributes of a good leader and gain managerial skills. It includes complete knowledge of management and leadership. BBA is a very beneficial course if you want to make your career in management, it has a vast scope.

Why is being a good communicator so important for a BBA graduate? The need of a BBA graduate is in business organizations. A business organization is made up of a group of people with a view to earn profit and for these activities, systematic communication is priority.

A BBA graduate works as HR manager, marketing executive, finance advisor, investment banker and much more. In all these job profiles one need to interact with hundreds of people every day, discuss ideas, strategies, finalize deals and what not. All this needs effective communication.

During the BBA program course, the candidate is trained to have potent communication skills. Many people fear speaking in public or among many people but it doesn’t mean that they cannot be a good manager.

 The people who take admission in BBA might not be good at communicating or managing, they gain these skills in those three years of graduation. We always learn to do a thing, nothing is inbuilt. We can always do regular practice and hard work to be skilled at what we do.

If the candidate aspiring to pursue BBA is not good at communicating but is sincere and hardworking, then he/she don’t need to worry. The candidate will be taught how to communicate and deal with people but he/she need to put their own efforts and not be totally dependent on teachers.

 If a candidate wants to pursue BBA with flying colors then he/she must work on communication skills. This can be done by adding a few changes in lifestyle. To gain exceptionally good communication skills, follow these simple tricks-

  • Start reading books.
  • Look up dictionary for new words or download apps like Knudge.me for good vocabulary.
  • Speak out loud in front of mirror.
  • Read newspaper daily or any magazine of your interest.
  • Invest time on more human interaction.
  • Improve your body language, see videos on YouTube.
  • Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
  • Don’t criticize or condemn another person.
  • Talk in terms of other person’s interest.
  • Make the other person feel important.
  • Show respect for other person’s opinion. Never say “you’re wrong”.
  • Give honest, sincere appreciation.
  • Have a smile on your face, do not laugh absurdly.
  • If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically.
  • If you notice some mistake in other person’s work, call it into attention indirectly.
  • Choose your words wisely.
  • Use as few words as possible.
