Apart from teaching , atrained mathematician can be employed in GOvernment depratments engaged in space research ( the indian space research organization or ISRO), defence research ( Defence Research and Development Organization, DRDO), aeronautical research ( National Aeronautics Limited or NAL) to solve their special problems. Cryptology , the systems ensuring the saftety of credit crad trasnactions are also based on some sophistacted mathematics. Organizations such as society for electronic transcations and security hire mathematicians with training in this year. Financial mathematics is another area that leads to well paid jobs. Computer gians such as IBM and MIcrosoft have research departments which hire mathematicians.

Some of the best institutes to study mathematics in Indi are Indian Statistical Intitute Bangalore, Chennai Mathematical Institute, Chennai, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Indian Institte of Science Banglaore, Tata Institute Fundamental Research, Mumabi, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad, Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research atPune, Mohali, Kolkata and Bhopal. Both Indian Statistical Indstitute and Chennai Mathematical Institute admit students who have qualified in the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad or are Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana fellows. The Institute of Mathematical Sciences Chennai admits students through the National Board of Higher Maths exam followed by an interview.
