Good to hear you are working on an MIS profile and have decided to do an MBA to stabilize your career. Doing the MBA is definitely a worth decision especially if you have built up some years of work exp.I believe you mean MIS as management of information systems? MIS is actually a work profile that involves 50% of technical work in information management and 50% of pure management work. So it is a mixture of technology and management. studying a general MBA or the MBA in Information management/ systems management will be a great choice for you. There are very few schools in India that offers the MBA with information or systems management however the branded b schools most often doesnt offer a specialization in this area. But then you can still go ahead with doing the regular MBA and specialise in project management or operations management and work in software companies. This is indeed a wise route that is often recommended.
Dear Aspirant,
Thanks for approaching us at CareerGuide.
Legally PGDBA, PGDM, PGDBM are not masters degree. They are equivalent only in their course structure. PGDM or PGDBM is not always eligible for PhD or for appearing for UGC NET / SET.PGDBA is a distance learning management course and not a Masters degree.
Master degree holders are preferred over PGD in teaching field. However in corporate, it doe snot matter. Legally mentioning MBA as a qualification is not allowed for a person having PGDBA or PGDBM or PGDM.
IIMs award PG Diplomas and not MBA at all.
Only Institutes / Universities under the AIU recognition are allowed to give PGDBM or PGDM as MBA degree.
