Hi,

Thanks for approaching Counsellors at CareerGuide.com!!!

Aeronautics is a very prestigious branch of science. From your question it is clear that you are not sure of the is field and you also do not know about it completely and hence you are insecure about pursuing it. So let me explain it to you about the subject. Then you can decide with free mind to move ahead .

Let me tell you that Aerospace engineering is the primary branch of engineering concerned with the research , design, development, construction, testing, science and technology of aircraft. It is divided into two major and over lapping branches i.e. Aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering. The aeronautics deals with aircraft that operates in earths atmosphere, and the astronautics deals with space crafts that operate outside the earth's atmosphere. Aerospace engineering deals with the design, construction and study of the science behind the forces and physical properties of aircraft rockets, flying craft and space craft. The field also covers aerodynamic characteristics and behaviors, airfoil, control surface, lift drag and other properties. Aeronautical engineering was the original term for the field. As flight technology advanced to include craft operating in outer space, the broader term aerospace engineering has largely replaced in common usage. Aerospace engineering, particularly, the astronautics branch, is often called as rocket science.

Aeronautics is definitely helpful after but you should be be very clear about the subject. Gain more knowledge about it through net , books ,people who are already in this field and your professors and clear your doubts. Do not go by what people say believe your capabilities and potential. Everybody is different, you will get jobs according to your own strengths they will get according to their own.

Prepare your self well and understand each and every thing before pursuing it. Recheck your own interests again to find out whether you have the right aptitude for this field or not. This will make you more confident.

If you would like to study B.Tech Aeronautical engineering after 12th, then you must have studied maths compulsorily upto 10th level, studied maths and physics compulsorily upto 12th level. Maths and Physics are important eligibility subjects that allows you to study B.Tech Aeronautical engineering. If you haven't studied maths until 12th level then you cannot be eligible to apply for B.Tech Aeronautical or any other engineering programs. However if you haven't studied Physics in class 12th but have done chemistry then you be qualified to sit for the private college entrance test, and not the colleges under government. If you do well in the entrance test and pass the exam with a minimum 60%, then you may be considered for a place on the B.Tech Aeronautical engineering degree by the private college. (Remember that only private colleges may offer this flexibiliy).

Some of the top 10 colleges that you may consider studying in India for this program are listed as per their rank below

If you would like to study any of the IIT's mentioned above, you should prepare and appear for IIT JEE exam after 12th. It is a national ranking exam and if you obtain a very high rank then you may be offered a place of study at any of the IIT's. In case you are interested in studying else where other than the IIT, then you can also write AIEEE All India Engineering entrance examination. This exam will qualify you to appear for selection at government colleges throughout India. If your choice is to sstudy at non-governmental institutions then you can also consider writing their own entrance test.
