Dear Aspirant,

Thanks for writing to www.careerguide.com!

Very interesting query. You are engineer and want to shift into management side. I would not recommend you to do MA+MBA. Rather, you can take up MBA in Organizational Behavior/Organizational Psychology. Prepare for CAT/MAT and get into premier institutions that offer MBA in Behavioral Psychology. You may like to look at following career pathway.

Career Pathways:
MBA (Organizational Psychology)
Executive Course in Strategic Management from IIMs
PhD (if interested. Usually PhD is useful if you want to start own consulting firm or get into academics. PhD is not required to work in corporate.)
Following are few institutions that offer MBA in Behavioral Psychology:
Indian Institute of Management - Kolkata, Ahmedabad
Faculty of Management Studies - New Delhi, Delhi
Symbiosis Society`s College of Arts - Pune, Maharashtra
Amity Institute Of Psychology And Allied Sciences - Noida, Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow University - Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
M.S Panwar Institute of Communication and Management - Solan, Himachal Pradesh
Indian Institute of Psychology and Research Bangalore
If you have more queries, feel free to write back.
Best Wishes for career transition and higher studies

.

Best,

Apurva Kumar Pandya, PhD

Hello Dear Aspirant,

Welcome to career guide.com

Thanks for writing us your career query

.

This is an very interesting question you have brought here. Very few students think to shift their career track after doing the specialisation and gaining the work experience.

Psychology is one of the interesting field to study and practise it as a career. Psychology means study of Human Behaviour and Mind, its structure and process. Many a times the problems are related to the mind of a person and if it is treated well the person gets cured.

Many a times people who wish to make their career in the field of psychology after the degree they either apply for the MA Psychology course or Diploma Course. In order to apply any of these courses one need to have completed the Graduation Degree. There are some of the institutes that conduct entrance exams like TISS one needs to attempt those exams and clear the same.

In your case as you have been planning to go further for MBA after completing Industrial Psychology this will be a very long process for you to go with. I agree with my collegaue Dr. Pandya going for MBA in Industrial/ Organisational Psychology will be helpful for you. Doing MA will take 2 years and further for MBA it will take 2 years in overall you need to spend 4 years for learning. While if you go with MBA in Industrial / Organisational Psychology it will take only 2 years.

You can start preparing for CAT/MAT,MBA entrance exams and after that can go for the MBA course in Industrial / Organisational Psychology.

Here are some of the Institutes that offer MBA in Industrial/ Organisational Psychology-

1.Symbiosis Society's College of Arts- Pune
2.Amity Institute of Psychology and allied sciences- Uttar Pradesh.
3.Indian Institute of Management- Kolkatta,West Bengal.
I hope you find this information relevant to your career query.
Feel free to get in touch again for your career query.
Wish you Good Luck.

Thank You
Warm Regards,

Prathamesh K.
