Career as a dietician and nutritionist is an emerging career in today's era of changing lifestyle and busy schedules. A dietician plays a vital role in managing our food habits. On the other hand, a nutritionist is the one who takes care of a healthy mind and body by adding a healthy and nutritional diet in our meals.

Everyone needs a healthy diet for building stamina including kids, teenagers, adult or an old age person. Each and every stage need some extra diet as per his body requirements, body growth, recovery from illnesses or to stay fit.

A protein rich and nutritional diet is especially required by infants and kids. Whereas, an adult need a proper diet as per his illness. A diabetic, a renal or a surgical patient all need different types of well-balanced diet in his daily meals to live a healthy and long life.

There are numerous courses at different levels for being a professional in Dietician and Nutritionist. Starting from a diploma program, one can follow up to bachelor, master or doctoral degree in Dietists or Nutritionist. Here is the list of all the programs at different levels of education:

Diploma Courses:

Licensing and Certification:

After completing any level of a degree program, one should have a license and certification for starting his career as a dietician or a nutritionist. Each and every state has its own norms to provide licensing. Some institutions provide training before getting license or certification in the relevant field. One should have at least 1000 hours of practical experience to work with a dietician. The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or Certification Board of Nutrition Specialists (CBNS) has the responsibility to assure the certification process to the aspirants for getting RDN (The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist) and RD (Registered Dietitian) credentials.

A nutritionist or a dietician oversee the complete health of an individual. He can work in schools, hospitals, healthcare institutes, fitness clubs, slimming centers, public health agencies, nursing homes and various other government health organizations. Onne can also be the director of a health organization or work as a self-practitioner or a consultant.
