The main work and responsibilities of a video editor have been described in the below points:

1. The video editors are required to meet their clients to get the main video footage and understand the requirements. This part is really very important as they have to really understand all aspects for which the final video is required otherwise minor error in editing can change the whole context of the video.

2. They work on editing part which begins with cutting the video and the then rearranging them in the right fashion. This all is done on the computer software and according to the requirements of the clients. They first list down the sequence and then arrange the video lengths.

3. The video editors are required to enhance the video and audio quality of the original footage. They work on the software to improve the quality. It also depends on the screen on which the client wants the video to see on and according to that only, the quality of the video is decided. Similarly the audio levels are tested repeatedly and it is ensured that the best sound quality is made available.

4. Then the video editors work on the special effects both in the video as well as the audio part. There are certain cases where the role of these effects is extremely important and therefore cannot be neglected. They have to work on them. For this purpose the creativity of the editor is really tested. He or she has to think of news ways to create that thrill and effect in the video so that the overall video looks nice.

5. Before finalizing the video the editors need to meet the clients and show them the work that they have done. After getting the approval from the clients, they finalize the video and then work on the final production of the video. As per the client's requirements the video cassette or video compact disc is made and then given to the client. Thus there is a series of work that the video editors have to do.
