Hello

Thank you for writing to us and we are happy to help you with your question today. I see you are currently doing BEng in Mechanical engineering and after this study you want to do an MBA in Aviation management. You have chosen the correct path as your mechanical engineering skills will be definitely useful with your aviation management career. So congratulations on choosing a right career path.

Aviation industry is vast and complex. The growth in this aviation industry is massive and requires good manpower and technology skills to keep it fast tracked day to day. Aviation industry involves the air transportation business like the passenger air crafts and its day to day operations. Therefore it is a study about managing business operations in air transport industry. It involves the study of managing the airline manpower like the ticketing staff, hospitality staff, technical staff, ground staff, crew members, flight engineers, pilot and the flight technicians. Apart from this the subject also focuses on airport planning and development, airline route planning and supply chain management.

As part of the MBA in Aviation management you will therefore study Airline employee handling that I mentioned above, airline marketing, supply chain, airport planning and development, airline operations management and airline or aviation law management. These topics will cover your MBA syllabus. According to the elective you choose to study in your MBA, your career will also be focused on that line. As part of the MBA Aviation management course, if you are asked to choose a specialization or a main elective, and if you choose to study 'airline route planning', you will get a job as a Route planning specialist at the airport. You will be based at the ground level in airport and you will sketch the routes of airlines that they are supposed to follow in their journey. Suppose you choose to study 'Airline marketing' as your main elective in MBA, you will do the marketing area for the airline you work for. You will be involved in creating promotions, discounts for frequent travellers, privileged club members and so on. Your role will be focused on how to attract passengers to your airline. You will more work like an Aviation marketing analyst to compare your competitor airline ticket price and promotions and implement a competing price for your airline. Like this, the career path will depend on what you study at your MBA and where you want to work.

Colleges in India that offer MBA Aviation Management are
1. University of Petroleum and energy studies, Dehradun
2. Hindustan University, Chennai
3. Avalon Academy Hyderabad.
4. Dr D.Y. Patil University - Department of Business and Management

Please feel free to write back if you have further questions. My best wishes to you.
