Unfortunately with a score which you have you will not be able to get admission to any colleges in India or abroad. I seriously feel that you did not prepare seriously, sincerely and work hard enough to score a decent one. However since you have approached CareerGuide.com you can very much make up and correct your mistakes. I seriously feel that you join a MBA entrance coaching class where you will be taught how to answer the entrance tests and also some simple logical tricks and techniques for scoring atleast average percentile in the tests. Also apart from that I would strongly recommend you to read newspapers daily so that you get the knowledge and information about the current affairs. Also if required you also need to join an English coaching class to improve your english language skills, since the tests have a category on english language skills. Also please re think why you would like to do an MBA? Is it because you have been told by your parents or friends or is it because the world is doing it or is it because you really want to become an MBA. Please also understand that just by doing an MBA you wont be able to become a Manager instantly. I think if you are from commerce background, you should also check if you can pursue professional courses like Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretaryship or Cost Accountancy or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), etc. These courses are very much good and give very good career scope and status and good salary packages. Considering your low score in CAT, I would also recommend you to appear for simpler tests like CMAT, CET, XAT or SNAP. Also please think for a formal psychometric assessment from CareerGuide.com so that you get a very clear idea of what are your career interests, likings. Doing this test will remove all your confusion about your self and will help you to decide and proceed towards an informed career decision making. After you have studied well for entrance tests please appear for the entrance tests again and I am sure that you will be able to score a good percentile which will help you get admission to good MBA colleges. Best Luck.

Hello

A CAT score is extremely important for studying an MBA at a reputed, top ranked business school anywhere in India. also please note that colleges that demand a CAT score are the good ones and colleges that demand no test are not great to study at. However there are many other exams other than CAT like MAT, XAT, GMAT, GATE that will qualify you to study an MBA course.

Almost most of the Indian universities in India demand a CAT score and very few demand the other scores. I understand you have scored pretty less in CTA, so I would want to make you ask yourself if you want to study at a reputed school for an MBA. If you desire for a very good school then you need to definitely write the CAT exam again. I have plenty of friends who have sat for CAT exam for more than once or twice. It is quite usual for students to re attempt CAT and the subsequent attempts studnets can also expect to get their score increased. So in your next attempt you can definitely expect for a better score than the previous one if you work hard. I also advice you to take up the help of a coaching class and i always receommend TIME coaching class for CAT exam. This institute is very reputable and have sent off many students to study at the IIM's. Therfeore i advice you to go for this coaching class and then take up the CAT exam again and apply for the next application round.

To be honest all the MBA entrance exams are equally competitive. And the most toughest one is the GMAT exam. Only the Indian school of Business at Hyderabad accepts GMAT score and not most of the other universities in India. So if you want to study at ISB Hyderabad then you need to do GMAT exam and if you have no plans for ISB, then ignore GMAT exam.

You can consider doing XAT if you want to study at Xaviers institute of management. This institute accepts only this test and not any other exam. However as said you can do CAT exam for any other schools.

If you are not willing to do CAT exam again tehn you may appear for independent university entrance exam conducted by each university for studying an MBA. For example you can write University of Mumbai MBA entrance exam if you want to do an MBA at any of their colleges. Actually these exams are pretty easy compared to CAT, MAT, XAT or GMAT exams. However doing a CAT is extremely advantageous for anyone as this leads to study at a reputed school like the IIM's.

Finally I would advice two ways for you. One, try for doing the CAT exam second time and get a very good score and be admitted at reputed schools. Second, think of other exams other than CAT like the individual entrance exams. So as you do a new exam, prepare well and perform well. this again will improve your score and get higher chances for MBA admission.

Hope this helps. My best wishes to you for your MBA admission. Good luck.
