Hi There,
A pretty interesting question.
If yes, there you are prepared to be a journalists. Although earlier more than qualifications, certain traits were enough to be qualified as a journalists.
But these days since qualifications are of utmost importance, to be a journalists apart from your personality traist, you need formal education like:after 12th any stream, you can opt for a course in Mass Media popularly know as BMM ( Bachelors in Mass Media).Few institutes conduct an entrance exam.BMM is a 3 years undergraduate course, whereby in your 2nd year you could choose from Journalism, Advertisement or PR a specialization that you would like to pursue in future. In your case, you can choose Journalism. After that, either you join a media house or publisjhing agency or news channel and begin your internship with them.
Generally a mass-media student begins internship during their Undergraduate course, as it is the requirement to be certified. But also after you get your degree, few organizations employ you either as a trainee or as an intern.
Learn the necessity of the work and build up the necessary skills required from senior successful professionals.
At the same time you can even opt for a PG Diploma in Journalism. Whereby you can specialize in subfields of Journalism like Medical Journalism, Sport Journalism etc.
Another route to journalism is after Graduation any stream, you can opt for a PG Diploma in Journalism. Entrance exam being the eligibility for such courses.
Please note that a degree or qualification in Journalism is just a means for you to land a job.You need other qualities like
In-case during your Graduation days, you could hosts a show, like say Annual day or rather organise the show and give a small writeup, it would add value when you apply for an intern program.
Hope this helps
Wish you good luck........
Dear Aspirant,
The best academic qualification I would suggest is Bachelors in Journalism (B.Journ) from a reputed University department. Delhi, Pune, Mumbai Universities are famous for journalism courses and degrees.
Mass Media is different thing, though closer to journalism.
Best wishes
