What is Air Force Common Admission Test?

The Indian Air Force conducts this test known as Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). The test is held double a year in February and August/September, individually, to choose Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical).

AFCAT is an entrance test for those who wish to join the Indian Air Force, both male and female applicants are allowed to give this test.

Candidates are selected based on their presentation in the online test and Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) meet. Candidates opting for Ground Duty (Technical) branches are asked to show up in both AFCAT and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).

What are the educational qualifications for Air Force Common Admission Test?

  1. Flying branch– Candidates must have passed with at least 60% or equal  in Maths and Physics at Class 12 and must have completed the graduation in any case with 60% or equal Or must have qualified BE/BTech with 60% or same Or Candidates have cleared segment An and B assessment of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a perceived University with 60%
  2. Ground Duty Technical Branch- It is also separated into 2 branches-electronics and mechanical:
  • Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics): Passed Class 10+2 with 60% denotes each in Physics and Mathematics and four years certificate Engineering/Technology Or Cleared Sections An and B of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership assessment of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by genuine investigations with 60% in disciplines determined by the assessment authority.
  • Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical): Candidates should have passed 10+2 with 60% in Physics and Mathematics and degree/incorporated post-graduation in Engineering/Technology Or Cleared section A and B assessment of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by examinations with least 60% marks or equal in specific controls indicated by IAF.
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branches- Graduation in any course or discipline with least 60% Or Cleared area A&B assessment of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a perceived college with 60%.
  • Education- Completed MBA/MCA or MA/MSc in English/Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Statistics/International relations/International Studies/Defense Studies/Psychology/Computer Science/IT/Management/Mass Communication/Journalism/Public Relation with half and 60% in graduation.

What is the process of the Air Force Common Admission Test?

1. Filling the application form

5. AFSB Interview
