Automobile Engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with the manufacturing, designing and operation of automobiles. It is a branch of a career in vehicle engineering which manages the functioning of buses, motorcycles, trucks, etc.
The candidate has to study subjects like Environmental Science and Engineering, Production Technology, Automotive Engine Components, Automotive Diesel engines, Automotive Electrical Systems, Applied Thermodynamics, Automotive pollution and control, Quality Control, Manufacturing Processes, Mechanics of Machines, Fluid Mechanics and Machinery, Fuels and Lubricants, Automotive Materials and Metallurgy, Automotive Transmission, and Reliability Engineering etc.
Those students who are passionate about cars, mathematics, mechanics, and electronics as their work and are extremely technical must be organized and systematic in their working propensities. To pursue B.E. Automobile Engineering course, students must have cleared the higher secondary education (10+2)with a minimum of fifty per cent (50%) marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics from a recognized Board of Examination. In the case of top institutes like NITs, IITs or BITS, the minimum percentage criteria to seek admission into automobile engineering is sixty per cent (60%).
Candidates who have a diploma degree in mechanical or any related stream can also seek admission in the second year of the program. Candidates should have completed their diploma right after 10th. In most of the cases, those candidates who are having a bachelor degree in science are also eligible.
Admission in most of the engineering colleges is done based on the candidate’s entrance score. Entrance exams are conducted by some of the private institutes like BITS Pilani, SRM University, VIT University etc.
