What is a habit? A settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up. (Google). Any action/routine which you do daily despite your daily activities, which are hard to give up are called habits. Habits can be good and bad. A good habit is a behavior that is beneficial to one’s physical or mental health, often linked to a high level of discipline and self-control.  (ref: the free dictionary). Some examples include getting up early in the morning and exercising, learning good things, being good to others, etc., A bad habit is a behavior that is harmful to one’s physical and mental health which even affects others’ lives. Some examples include, always sleeping early and getting up late, being rude with others, smoking, no hospitality, etc., These things always deteriorate your life constantly and affect your long-time career.

“You leave old habits behind by starting out with the thought, ‘I release the need for this in my life.’ ” ―Wayne Dyer.

If you cultivate good habits, your life will become a journey as sweet as honey, if you cultivate bad habits, your life becomes as sour as vinegar. Develop good habits in your life to live healthy physically and mentally. I’ll help you guys by giving some of the best and compulsory habits to cultivate to achieve and maintain a successful growth in your life. (Though you find some familiar habits here, the description would be different from them).

Best habit

1. Waking up early in the morning

One of the most important things for every individual is to make a habit of waking up early in the morning. There are many of you guys who like to work during the nights (like me), but I want to emphasize more these words- ‘the new day starts from 12 AM i.e at night, if you sleep a whole night let’s say from night 10 PM or 11 PM to morning 5 AM or 6 AM.  if you wake up and get ready within 90  minutes, you’ll start your day at 7:30 AM. If you have your breakfast for 20 min from 7:30 AM or 8:00 AM, you’ll start your day from 7:50 AM to 8:20 AM respectively.

If you start your day as early as possible, you’ll have plenty of time to do your work. You’ll have the whole day from the Morning to Night. You’ll have enough time to plan your work and give a kick-start to your day and do any work which you like. All you need is time, which is the only thing almost everyone feels insufficient. You can even start your day by doing physical exercises that keep you mentally and physically fit.

2. Have a perfect routine

Let us continue with the previous point. First, wake up early in the morning and make a habit of doing exercises like Yoga, Jogging, going to the gym, playing games which involves physical exercises. Later, get ready within 90 minutes and have your breakfast between 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM or have your breakfast before 9:30 AM. Start your work according to the schedule. Plan your work 5 min prior to your lunch. You should have your lunch between 12:30 PM – 2 PM. Give at least 20 min break before you get started with your work after your lunch.

Finish your daily tasks assigned to you. Just get relaxed for sometime when you finish off. You can have your snacks between 4:00 PM- 6:45 PM. Take a break after reaching your home by eating snacks or relax my discussing your day with your Family, Friends, etc., Next, if you’ve got an assignment, start doing it after taking the break. Have your dinner between 8 PM- 9:30 PM. Walk for sometime after having your food. Sleep between 11:00-11:30 PM.

I know, following the above timetable would be difficult nowadays. Deviating from the above schedule would affect your health a bit, which is the reason why many are becoming weak. An alternate solution would be to either do exercise in the morning or in the evening. If you have a lot of work, it is better to exercise in the evening. You either divide your work on a daily basis or complete the work by doing overtime( if necessary). Get relaxed by listening to songs, spending less time with mobiles, TV, etc., Managing time should be the best habit for everyone.

3.  Work on your creativity

Most of you have created something. Some of you are talented in craftwork like making toys, showcase items, games, etc., We know a YouTube channel called “5-Minutes Craft” where they show some life hacks from the basic everyday items which are absolutely adorable. Some of you may have the art of painting, sketching, cooking, planting plants and trees, etc., Maintain at least one of the creative skills. Most of the people like teaching students, writing blogs, animation, photo editing, and video editing, etc., If you are interested to showcase your skills, create a YouTube channel, start blogging, etc., Never stop if you have these or any other positive hobbies which enhance your everyday life.

Always watching TV, playing computer games, using mobile unnecessarily, always smoking, etc., means nothing to your life. They are just the habits which spoil your health and career.

4. Do not waste your time

Time is valuable. Once you’ve completed the day, you can never get it back in your life. Every moment is valuable. If you are social media, you might have come across many posts regarding the value of time. If you are doing work, always try to complete it on time.  ‘Better three hours too soon than a minute too late.’ — William Shakespeare.

Always plan your work and work on your plan. Execute your plan perfectly. Never try to procrastinate. Time management is always required in your life. Your appraisals, rewards depend on how good your work is and how well you’ve finished the work in time. That indicates how good is your performance. Keep learning new things always.

5. Make a habit of Reading

I know many people have a habit of reading books. If you are having that habit, continue it. If you are not having, start it. Always choose good books to read like “Best for Understanding Your Personality: Do What You Are”, “The power of Sub-conscious mind” etc., Make a habit of reading books. ‘ A good book is a good friend ‘. You can even read any interesting novels. There are many novels available online and offline. You can even read magazines, research papers, and articles published on any topic especially on Sciences. Also, read blogs available on the internet. There are many blogs on almost everything you want. Check the blogs especially on Sciences, latest technologies, inventions, thesis, etc., You can even read Epics like Ramayana, Mahabharatha, etc.,

Best habit

If you cannot read any of these tasks, at least read a newspaper daily. Cover your favorite articles in the newspaper. If you are interested in Sciences read articles on it, if you are interested in sports, read those lines in that paper. Always make a habit to read every day. This improves knowledge, awareness, communication skills, written skills, etc.,

6. Improve Interpersonal skills daily

Interpersonal skills are the behaviors and tactics a person uses to interact with others effectively. In the business world, the term refers to an employee’s ability to work well with others. Interpersonal skills range from communication and listening to attitude and deportment. (Ref: Investopedia). Learn how to speak with others, behave with others. Maintain a smile while talking, you  should possess good manners while eating with colleagues, higher authorities, etc.,

These skills are not only used in your company but also anywhere in the world. “The internet and online communication is the window into your world – but real-life, in-person communication/connection is the door.”― Rasheed Ogunlaru.

7. Learn to stay away and cultivate good food habits

Always try to stay away from the things that destroy you, your inner peace of you. Learn how to escape from things. “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”. Try to be nice with others. Your nature, mindset depends on what you eat. Always try to eat veg foods. Stop eating non-veg unless if compulsory required. Avoid foods that have preservatives and other chemical agents. Try to eat non-veg occasionally.

8. Learn to move on

Cultivating good habits not only means having a good diet and physical exercises but also to stand up by yourself when you are alone and there is no one to support you in typical situations. Have a proper mindset to deal with such kind of situations. You may land into situations where people offend you, bully your qualities, let you down purposely. These are the situations where one has to learn to move on. All your results and performance depends on the mindset you have while doing the work at that time.

“The truth is unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.”– Steve Maraboli

9. Keep your style

“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” —Rachel Zoe. Always maintain a style while doing the work and also in looks. Your physical appearance says what and who you are. If you have good looks, the first thing which people assume is -you possess good qualities and you are an intelligent person. No worry if you think you don’t have that good looks, you can keep your style by other things which you have to learn by yourself. You feel confident and motivated whenever you look yourself in case you if are depressed. You’ll finish your work with that motivation and get appraisals as you like.
