Dear Aspirant, Nice to know your aspiration to choose IAS as your career.  Which stream have you chosen for 12th? You have not written about that. However for IAS any stream is fine as far as you study the subjects of IAS and the special subject of your choice very thoroughly.  I would suggest to pursue a normal degree like BA Political Science or BCom, which would not take too much of your time and then you can utlise your time for studying for IAS.  Start preparing for IAS right now so that in three years you will get complete command over the studies and aim for clearing UPSC

Dear Aspirant, Good to know that being in the very first year of engineering, you are thinking for UPSC exams.  Firstly for IES, you need to be thorough with the Engineering domain knowledge and other general awareness. Books are available in the market and you will have to read all of them thoroughly and try to remember maximum things.
