The answer is yes, the manufacturing engineers do experience the social interactions during their work and are not restricted to the machines only. Below points will help you understand that they experience social interactions in a number of ways:

1. The manufacturing engineers have to interact with the senior management officials on the regular basis so that they can figure out the work ahead and plan the things in right manner. These interactions are though formal and require series of discussions, but are very productive in deciding the future course of action for the manufacturing processes. Thus the interactions are being made.

2. They have to work in the manufacturing plants for long hours and coordinate with the workers, technicians and their assistants. Thus there are huge number of interactions when it comes to the core manufacturing work. They are not working with the machines directly but are working with the workers who are then operating the machines. They need to instruct the workers. These interactions are not only limited to the instructions and guidance but informal as well a number of times. Therefore they enjoy working with different set of people.

3. Manufacturing engineers need to coordinate with the researchers and other designers so that they can understand the product better which is to be manufactured. They share a number of conversations with the other professionals both inside as well as outside their organization. Therefore they do not face any lack of social interactions.

4. The manufacturing engineers need to fix the deals as well. For that purpose they are required to meet the business people and the dealers. They should clarify the needs and requirements of the company and present it to the dealers. At the same time they should have enough knowledge about the material or product that they are buying or selling so that they can get the best deal out of it. If they are are not fully aware about it, it will affect the company.

Therefore the manufacturing engineers experience a number of interactions during their work.
