A very good, apt and excellent question you have put forth. As career counselor such questions are very thought provoking and very exciting to answer. I am personally happy to reply to this type of question

. As already correctly advised by Counselor Preeti Taneja, it would be good if you under go a psychometric assessment from us at Meracareerguide. This will help you get a perfect idea whether you have the intelligence quotient in you to become a Finance guy and in future a Finance Manager. Apart from the psychometric test, you can also doa self SWOT analysis in which you should sit down and list out that academically which are those subjects in which you are the most comfortable with. If in such analysis you get to know for yourself that you are inclined and confident about numerical subjects like Maths, Taxation, Management Accounting, etc. then probably you can decide for a finance course and later a career. A Finance guy primarily needs to be very adapt and comfortable with numbers, analysis. Since the finance field involves a whole lot of calculations at almost every step, numerical proficiency is a must. But this not to say that you need to have extra ordinary command over maths or figures like scientists have, but it is to say that without this comfortability one cannot be a good finance manager. Apart form maths you should alos have interest in economics, management, etc which are a must for a finance guy since for the simple reason that entire finance world takes decisions and makes financial plans and forecasting based on the economic and business environment of a particular nation or area or state. Further you will also have to judge that whether you can spend extra hours extended hours at office and whether you are able to sit at one place for hours. If you are comfortable with such work style, then finance is definitely a career for you. Regarding aptitude, you should be able to judge, analyse, quantify, present numbers in organised pattern, comfortability with computer applications like Tally, various ERPs, and MS Office applications is a must. You should also be very comfortable with MS Excel formulae. However ultimately interest and aptitiude can be built over a period of time once you start studying and loving the subjects. Best Luck
