Nice to see your ambition to become a Rank 1 Police Officer through Indian Police Service (IPS).
You have been thinking about the IPS at the very right time and I appreciate you for this. PCM is a good combination in science field. For IPS you definitely need to be a graduate. Considering the vast syllabus and competitive nature of the IPS exams, it would be better if you start preparing for the same from this year itself.
Enrolling your self for a coaching class for three years will make you study steadily, thoroughly and build up your confidence and knowledge. That will also give you a lot of practice.
IPS is all about Civil & Criminal Law and therefore, it does not matter which stream you come from. In Science, there is no branch that can help you crack easily. What important is, the command over the subject you choose for the optional papers in UPSC IPS exam.
Since graduation is a must, and if you feel, you do not want to get burdened by lot of studies, then you may choose a normal / plain BSc in a subject you like the most. However, doing BTech would also be good, since that can act as a back up plan education in case you do not clear IPS in minimum time span and later if you feel, you wish to go to private jobs.
