Hello

Thank you for choosing Meracareerguide and writing to us. Traditionally marketing manager role was only involved with marketing and distribution of company's products. But marketing management career has developed a contemporary shape.
  1. Market Analyst- Market analyst studies the dynamics of a particular market sector or a particular segment. For example, if your company is selling a product say its a baby soap, as a market analyst you will analyse who are the other companies manufacturing the baby soap. As a market analyst you will further analyse what is the demand for the product in the market, and what is the share of sales of each company in the market. Say if the market has 100% sales of baby soap, market analysts will analyse the sales % of company A,B, C, D and so on. So a market analyst you will know what share of sales and profit your company holds. This information reflects on the company's growth in sales and will be helpful to develop further.
  2. Product analyst - A product analyst will define the spheres/ speculations of a product. You will identify market strategies for the product you wish to launch, identify target market, analyse results and manage product life cycles. For example, if you are manufacturing an energetic hot drink like Boost, you will analyse what makes your product successful in the market and what causes to give you a stiff competition with other products. So you will analyse what techniques your competitor products like Complan, Horlicks are using to keep their product stand good in the market.
  3. Industry analyst - An industry analyst will understand the industry as a whole picture. You will understand how many people use the product that your company manufactures, the products demands and also how many products does your company needs to manufacture to meet up the people's requirements. For example if you are a company manufacturing kids bicycle, you should understand how many children are living currently and of which how many children prefers bicycling, you will also analyse the parent household income to understand how many parents can afford to buy the bicycle for the children. Simple, it is an analysis to understand how many customers are there and accordingly how many products need to be manufactured to meet the demands.
  4. Consumer analyst - As a consumer analyst you will aim to understand what particular feature attracts people in buying your product. For example if your company manufactures a beauty product like shampoo, it will measure why the shampoo is attracted by consumers. Is it because of the quality of the product, colour of the product, packaging of the product or advertisement of the product.
  5. Marketing communications - Finally you can also work as a market communication specialist. This requires a very good knowledge of writing skills. With your writing in English, you will convey the specs of the product to consumers either at the back of the product, or as a leaflet or even on websites.

Hope this helps.
