In a "A Self Career Counselling Guide" you have provided biotech and biomedical engineering option under PCB students but it requires maths as compulsory subject so how can I say you guided me right?

Hello Atul,

It’s obvious that anyone who doesn’t know what it requires one to be eligible for taking admission for a B.Tech/B.Sc. in Biotechnology will be curious enough as it contains the both keywords, i.e. Biology & technology/Engineering. Atul, I would like to reaffirm what our ‘A Self Career Counseling Guide’ says is that it’s indeed come under PCB stream as the majority of institutions and universities in India, offer B.Tech./B.Sc. in Biotechnology on the basis of Biology of your 10+2 level or 10+2+3 level.

Atul, as you said that Mathematics is one of the compulsory subjects but there are very few institutions come under this category. You can’t opt out the very presence of the Biology as one of the subjects required for B.Tech./B.Sc. in Biotechnology, as the name itself hints it crystal clear. We can enlist this Biotechnology under the PCMB head but still we can’t let it wholly belong to PCM category.

Some reputed institutions and many Indian universities have clearly offered B.Tech./B.Sc. in Biotechnology on the basis of Biology as one of the subjects which are compulsory.

Institutions which offer Biotechnology On the Basis of Biology

  • AIIMS Delhi,
  • IISc Bangalore
  • BITS Pilani,
  • Manipal University,
  • GGS Indraprastha University , Delhi
  • Uttar Pradesh Technical University , Institute of Engineering , Lucknow
  • Visverswaraih Technological University, Karnataka
  • Vellore Institute Of Technology, Tamil Nadu
  • Guru Nanak Dev University , Amritsar
  • Amity Institute Of Biotechnology (Amity University, New Delhi),
  • Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad
  • Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh
  • University of Kolkata, Kolkata
  • Jadavpur University, Kolkata
  • University of Lucknow,

IITs also have given the option to have Biology as an optional subject with other compulsory subjects, to be eligible for the admission in Biotechnology.

We nowhere mentioned in our brochure that Mathematics is not so far required and what we did is that we categorized Biotechnology bellow the PCB as a major and prominent basis for Biotechnology as a stream.

Atul, if you have any further queries related to the admission in B.Tech./B.Sc./M.Sc. Biotechnology, then let us know, we the CareerGuide would provide you exactly what you need to see you in your dream career. You can approach theExperts here at CareerGuide to know more about such curious facts related to your educational and career field. Hope this will help you!
