I would suggest both parents to let your child decide for himself.
As the parental and societal pressure upon the child might be to take up medical profession, it might be taxing on him
Make him aware of psychometric assessments or introduce him people of different areas of work
so that it becomes easy for him to decide on his next course of action
Make him understand about the possibilities in both the branches of his selection and ask him to ponder on the pros and cons of it.

As such medical is not a profession that a child needs to adapt as a family vocation. Though in general we see parents who have their own setup wish their child carry on in that setup only.
But reading your question, I am sure your son is not inclined towards medical or else there would be no doubt or dual thinking of choosing between commerce or medical.
Best would be a good communication at home. Get to know what his likes, or interest are. Talk about what medical profession is all about and then let him decide. Self introspection helps a lot.
As a point of clarity, best would be to opt for Aptitude test or career counseling test which would highlight your potentials and aptitude and will help you make a determined choice.

Firstly, You decide based on APTITUDE , if you have the focus on medicene and STUDY FOR 10 Years after 12 class. IF answer is a STROMG NO.
then no medical unless your parents OWN a hospital.
Secondly , In india if you do not have Maths, physics and chemistry 50 % career doors are closed HENCE keep your decision pending till 12 class and choose Maths ,physics and chemistry. It is wrong to close 50 % job opportunities at a tender age below 19 years.
thirdly do some aptitude test do guide you. Caution the test can only suggest, THE FINAL decision is yours .
