Dear Nilakshi,

Thanks for writing to www.careerguide.com!

Nice question.

Space scientists study the different areas of space like satellites, weather etc. It has very good career scope in India as well as abroad.

Well, If you are willing to make career in Space Scientist, you need to opt science subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2 level. After 10+2 in PCM stream, candidate need to go for pursuing BSc/B.Tech. degree in aeronautics, aviation or physical science.

After 12th, you can appear for certain entrance exam like ISAT which has certain space related courses in it or IIT JEE/GATE to secure admission in Masters (MSc or MTech in Space Science or Aeronautic Engineering). PhD is highly desirable. Those who want to work in academics or research institutions are advised to do integrated course (MTech+PhD or MSc+PhD) course after graduation.

Names of few best colleges/institutes for aeronautics engineering are mentioned below:

Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Kanpur, Gandhinagar, Delhi, Mandi, etc.
NMIMS Academy of Aviation, Maharashtra
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram
Jawaharlal Institute of Technology, Coimbatore
Jawahar Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore
Karpagam Institute of Technology, Coimbatore                                                                                                                                         GITAM University, Hyderabad                                                                                                                                                                 Kalaignar Karunanidhi Institute of Technology, Coimbatore

Hope this is helpful. If you have specific queries, feel free to revert.
