Finding a Niche
- Many interior designers work in homes and smaller offices. However, discovering the right areas and then highlighting a specific niche within these areas can help the, find their focus market and hence fetch more work. An interior designer's area should be highlighted on the resume, giving it an edge over other applicants' resumes. A interior designer specialty might be minimizing clutter in small spaces or helping clients find suitable furnishings for their lifestyle.
Accomplishments
- Employers are looking for interior designers who can get the job done, so the resume must reflect the applicant's ability to work hard and succeed. It should be specific and descriptive, providing an effective and impressive picture of their abilities and accomplishments relating to the job of interest. Prospective employers are looking for someone who has handled and excelled at previous similar jobs and tasks.
Business Skills
- Interior Designers should also highlight business skills on a resume. Prospective employers and clients want to know that an interior designer can complete tasks successfully, on budget and on time, working professionally and independently.
