Dear Aspirant, you have not mentioned your educational status, whether you are a post graduate in fishery science or you are holding a doctoral degree. The working hours of a fishery scientist depends upon the type of job and whether he or she is working in government or private organization.

Technically speaking, a fishery scientist means a person holding a degree minimum in masters or having a doctoral degree.

I f you are working in government sector means a college, university or research institute. In a college the fishery scientist will work as lecturer. As you have asked, the fishery scientist will work or supposed to work in any university, research institute of any private organization deals in some sort of research and development aspects.

In any Indian university, the working hours of a fishery scientist is from seven to eight hours. During these hours a fishery scientist is supposed to deal with students, colleagues, superiors and clients. You will be involved in teaching, research and administrative work and other duties assigned from time to time. A sincere, ambitious or hardworking fishery scientist usually work for one to two hours more daily. This time is spent for preparing excellent and informative notes for the classes, he or she is teaching. He has also spent time to write the research projects, because the research projects brings funds, which enrich the laboratory of any scientist. Besides these if the fishery scientist is guiding masters or doctoral degree students then definitely they will also require some time to discuss the research aspects.

It means that one has to work for one to two or sometimes more hours on daily basis. If you are really interested in science and research then these extra hours will encourage you. You will feel good.

I am also a scientist and daily I send minimum and and half hours extra in my office, this time I utilize to prepare my lectures and writing my research papers or book chapters. Because these things will fin\ally a feather in cap.

In any private organization, the working hours are little more, the work will be routine unless you are in research and development department.

The government organization (in some sectors) has five day working, while the private organization normally has six days working.
