The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a public, deemed, research university established in 1909 in Bangalore in Karnataka. It is ranked 530th among the universities around the world by SCImago Institutions Rankings. The Academic Ranking of World Universities ranked it 401–500 in the world in 2020.

Admission to most of the courses at the UG level is offered based on the scores obtained in the MUOET conducted by MAHE. NEET, JEE, NATA, MAT, CMAT, CAT, XAT are the other entrance exams on the basis of which the students get admission to the different courses. Some courses also require candidates to pass the next two levels – Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
3. National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal
NITK Surathkal, formerly known as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC), is a public engineering university established in 1960 in suburban regions of Surathkal. NITK was ranked 16th among engineering colleges in India by India Today in 2020, 10th by Outlook India, and 14th by The Week in 2019.
