Commerce is broad as a field. If you like business persons and find interest in buying and selling things and enjoy numbers commerce is the field for you. Commerce is part of day-to-day life it is based on a study of business activities, trade, finance, and economics. English, accountancy, business studies, and economics, mathematics, and informatics practices are some commerce subjects. There are lots of commerce entrance exams you can appear for after your 12th. CA CPT (Charted Accountant Common Proficiency Test) conducted by ICAI (The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India), CSEET (CS Executive Entrance Test) conducted by ICSI (The Institute of Company Secretary of India), DU JAT (Delhi University Joint Admission Test), SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test), BHU UET (Banaras Hindu University) are some of the top exams held every year. By practicing and study theory subjects deeply, revising test papers, by keeping awareness with changes in direct and indirect taxes you can clear the exam.
There are wide career options in the commerce field. A student having studied commerce in 12th can pursue their profession in any of the following trending commerce courses:
Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com): It is a three-year graduate course. You have the option of both government and private colleges. You need a minimum of 50% in your 12th for pursuing B.Com. You have the option of B.Com (Hons.) too if you want to specialized subjects. You will study subjects like accounts, mathematics, and economics. B.Com in Computer application, B.Com in Ecommerce, etc subject choices you can select from. You have job options like an accountant, consultant, auditor, analyst, etc after completing B.Com.
Bachelor of Laws (LLB): Five-year undergraduate course. You can take admission through national-level common entrance exams like CLAT, LSAT, etc. You have job options in law firms, government, and private sector, pharmaceutical companies, etc.
Cost and Management Accountant (CMA): If you have a bachelor’s degree in accounting you can become CMA. You need to pass an exam on cost accounting with the certified cost and CMA certificate programs. You will have job options in the financial field, in accountancy, as an officer and as a manager, etc.
Chartered Accountancy (CA): To become a charted accountant you need to clear the CA foundation exam. Then you will need to complete ICITSS (Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills) course. There will be 8 months study course of CA then there will be two groups of exams. Clear the remaining intermediate exams and enroll for CA finals. Clear the CA final exam for designation of Charted Accountant. CA is the best option for a student who wants to do a job after graduation.
Company Secretary (CS): ICSI offers a company secretary course. To become Company Secretary you need to pursue executive and professional programs. You need to pass the CS foundation course and further exams. You have job opportunities as a legal advisor, corporate planner officer, and senior positions in companies, etc.
Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA): Three years under graduation course provide an understanding of business-oriented concepts. After 12th commerce, you can take admission in BBA. A Master’s degree MBA will give you a good job with a better package. You have career options as an information system manager, HR, finance manager, administration researcher, etc.
Certified Financial Planner (CFP): You need to complete a bachelor’s degree and CFP certification course. After clearing the CFP exam you can become a certified financial planner. Job options vary from providing financial planning and investment advisory services to an individual to families and businesses.
Bachelor of Economics:Four years of an undergraduate degree in economic theory prepare graduates to enter the job market. You can give an entrance exam for admission to colleges. After completing a degree in economics you have job options as a financial analyst, auditor, economic consultant, financial manager, etc.
Journalism and Mass Communication:Commerce students are also eligible for a media course. You can take admission in Journalism and Mass Communication course in college through direct admission or by entrance exam conducted by the college. Career opportunities include a job as a news reporter, news editor, journalist, etc.
Commerce was considered as a field for average students but it depends on your interest. Every field requires hard work if you want a good career. Teaching, sales, and any part-time job is also an easy-going option for commerce students. Fields like hotel management, event management, event planner, graphic designing, preparing for government exams are also open career options for commerce students.
