Hi Divya,
Why this shift dear?
Because it is a huge makeover. Once you leave engineering and enter counseling profession, and wish to get back to engineering, you would start from the basics.
As far as counseling is concerned, there are many Open University that provide a masters degree in counseling eg. IGNOU.
You could opt for those courses and get familiarised with the testing and counseling or therapies.
But please note, since they are distance learning programs, they do not provide internships. So best would be that while pursuing the course, work with the counseling centre and get practical experience.
As far as Career counselign is concerned, there is an option for a Diploma in guidance and counseling 2 years program available. But on a similar note, while studying or rather before opting for the course, get hang of what career counseling is all about and its process and only then make a choice.
Hope this helps.
Wish you good luck...
Dear Aspirant,
I would strictly not recommend you to shift to counselling. Health Counselling will not be applicable to you based on your graduation degree. It will be a very way off from the education you have taken. Further Career counselling is not a simple task and randomly done work.
Mechanical Engineering offering so many opportunities, it is really surprising that you are not wanting to do that and shift to counselling.
After BE I would suggest you to look for a job in the industry, gain some years of experience and then consider advicing career aspirants.
Best wishes
In order to post replies to the question: "After doing BE in mechanical can I go into counselling as a profession? What will be the I've to do after BE ? Preferably I would like to know about health counselling and also career counselling."
