Dear Aspirant,

I am so happy to see that youngsters like you are willing to come to the teaching profession and especially in your case, I am more happy since you are still in 12th and you have already thought about this option as a long term career. Lots of blessings to you.

You can definitely become a Lecturer in Senior College for BSc and MSc.

Firstly, you will need to complete MSc in Microbiology from a recognised University. Post completion of Masters degree with minimum 55% marks, you need to then appear for UGC NET / SET Exam. NET / SET exam is compulsory in case you wish to teach in senior college (i.e. to the students of degree college and post graduate degree college).

To further strengthen you career, you should immediately start planning for PhD just after MSc. PhD is a must for good salary, stable career and career growth to the Dean / Director level.

All the best!

Hello,

To become a lecturer (Assistant Professor) you will have to complete the Master’s degree as it is the minimum eligibility criteria to become a lecturer in India.

So, once you pursue the postgraduation in Microbiology then you will be eligible to appear in lectureship entrance exam which is CSIR NET.

The CSIR NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – National Eligibility Test) is conducted by the National Testing Agency to check the eligibility of an aspirant for teaching and research work.

Once you qualify this exam, then you will be eligible to apply in various colleges and institutes for the post of Assistant Professor.

Best of luck for your career!
