Hello Vandana,

Interesting question. Regulatory affair is one of the most important role in the pharma, chemical, cosmetics and food industry. Their role is regulated under the FDA. Thus from the above it must be clear the industries where you might find a job opportunity.

As a regulatory officer, your main role is to monitor the entire manufacturing unit before it is sent out into the market. You would check the entire production unit and machines used during the production. Another task is licencing the chemist in terms of them storing the product and selling the right product. They also inspect the logistics of the company.

It is then their duty to make an entire report and send it to the FDA.

This defines the scope of regulatory affairs. As far as salary is concerned, as a fresher pharmacy graduate you would start with a basic salary approximately 25k. Then increase would depend on your performance.

As far as future prospects are concerned, you could opt for a masters degreee in pharmacy and join the Research department or join the clinical research department after pursuing a course in clinical trials. A masters degree makes you eligible to work in the quality department as well as a medical writer.

Hope this helps.

Wish you good luck....
