Nice to know your inclination for become a researcher in the engineering operations field.
For this, after BTech, I would strongly suggest you to complete Masters (MTech) from a good Institute/University and you can take Operations also a specialisation in Masters. Doing a Masters would be very essential for your future career growth since this is a minimum qualification for doing a formal research as PhD. PhD in Operations is very good as far as the industry is also concerned.
If age permits you can also do PhD as a JRF in a recognised University.
Alternatively you can opt for MBA Operations and get jobs as Analyst in engineering, manufacturing, industrial, production companies.

Happy to hear that you want to be part of research.For being a part of the research you have to complete your master's degree and then Ph.D.(If you want ) but if you don't want to do master's then you can choose the option of a csir net exam.If you have not heard about this exam then let me clear you that this exam is specially designed for science student who wants to see themselves as a scientist.One is applicable for the exam after their master's but b.tech candidates can directly apply for the exam. You can do the research in csir labs which is not easy to get but with that, you have to get admission in Ph.D., My sister, is also preparing for the same, she is referring the online csir net study material.
Read on google about this more and choose best for you but I will recommend you to go for csir net, It has a great career opportunity in future. India needs a young researcher.
