Hi Aditi,
Interesting question and must be in the minds of all students, but they somehow make a choice, which for some fit in well but for some just doe not work at all.
Firstly, do not make a career choice based on your percentage, friends and or family. Neither on intuitions.
To make a choice, know yourself the best. Do a Self Introspection. Anlayse your interest, dreams, capabilities, hobbies etc. Think whether you would like to convert your hobby into your career.
But the most accurate way, is knowing your Aptitude, the skills ones develop over the period of time. Thus as a Counselor I strongly recommend an Aptitude test or Career Counseling test. This tests helps reveal the childs potentials in terms of his aptitude and his ability in sync with his personality and IQ, helps him making a determined choice.
Please note that the tests measures the childs ability in 5 different areas:
A combination of the 5 skills, in sync with Personality and IQ helps determine the right career choice for the child.
Hope this helps.
Wish you good luck...

Hello Aditi
You have not specified your current academic qualification. I assume that you are in tenth standard. You have ample time to decide your career if you are in tenth or twelfth standard.
The best way to select a career is to go for a psychometric or aptitude test. Careerguide offers Ideal career test on the website. Another way is to write down your interests and dislikes on a page and think where you would like to see yourself in next few years. Think about factors like whether you would like a profile that includes communicating with people and teamwork or a desk job; would you like to travel for the job etc. These factors will help you give you the perfect answer.
All the best
dear Friend, please be clear on the top while posting a question, please tell first what have you done so far, accordingly a career/profession may be chosen. I can only give you a general answer to your query. If you have done your senior secondary in science subjects then you may go for engineering or medical profession depending upon your inclination towards mathematics or biology, it may also be possible that you may have interest in computer programming and software engineering/hardware etc. or else if you are interested in machines go for mechanical branch, likewise if you are creative enough you may go for civil engineering or architecture. There are chances that fine arts or humanities group may also tempt you. So, it's only you who has to decide which line to be chosen.
