Hello Friend,
Thank you for reaching MeraCareerguide.com
Yes, It is very important to have at least a good communication skills even if we are not excellent. Communication skills is not only meant for Professionals working in the Top Hospitals but it is very essential to communicate with the patients especially.
The ability to communicate effectively is important in relationships, education and work.
Develop a ability to communicate well
A Psychiatrist needs to be able to communicate with many people in addition to the patient. you may require to talk to the patients family members to get other perspective on the patients problems and to assess family dynamics. you must talk with other health care professional to co-ordinate a treatment plan for the patient. A Psychiatrist must be able to explain specific medical terminology to other medical professionals as well as to lay people who may have limited medical knowledge. He takes notes throughout these various conversations and places comments in the patients file for future reference. So a good command of oral and written language is essential.
1. Know what communication really is - Communication is the process of transferring signals/messages between a sender and a receiver through various methods such as written words, non verbal cues, spoken words) It is also mechanism we use to establish and modify relationships.
2. Have Courage to say what you think - Be confident in knowing that you can make worthwhile contributions to conversation. Take time each day to be aware of your opinions and feelings so you can adequately convey them to others.Individuals who are hesitant to speak because they do not feel their input would be worthwhile need not fear. What is important or worthwhile to one person may not be another and may be more so to someone else.
3. Practice - Developing advanced communication skills begins with simple interactions. Communication skills can be practiced everyday in settings that range from the social to the professional. New skills take time to refine but each time you use your communication skills you open yourself to opportunities and future partnerships.
