Hello...

To start with let me introduce myself, I am working as a financial analyst in a private company.I have an experience of more than three years in the same field. In my day to day working I need to do lot many things where maths plays a important role. Everyday we need to do so many calculations where maths skill is highly required, if only I am good in maths I can do it with full accuracy and fastly with ease and without getting tired.

Coming to your questions, sound knowledge of mathematics is really important to become a good financial planner. In daily work requirements mathematical things like basic mathematics, equations, interest simple or compound , time value of money, future valuing and related terms etc are common things to know and use.
All this are a part of financial planning and is related to your computation ability.

In all your work more or less every time some calculations you need to do which is a part of maths only, so no point in thinking about maths use in financial planning work it any how required for a financial planner to have sound knowledge and good hold on mathematics to do his work faster and perfect with zero percent error.

But mathematics is all about calculation and nothing with planning, more you need to know where company objectives and plan in accordance with the same. But mathematical knowledge will be a plus point for the same work

Hope all above points answered your query about the value of maths in financial planner life and his work. But as it is a field related to numbers definitely it will be related to mathematics in all manners, if you have doubt in your mathematics skill or quantitative knowledge, do focus and improve your weak points and go ahead in your field with full confidence. Otherwise you need to think again whether financial planning willl be a good career option for you, do some training for working in financial planning if already decided, gain some good experience in the field, You can even prepare for the certification and licensing for financial planning. After all this there will not be any doubt in your mind about the same and remember this job is not easy , so always be prepare to work hard.

All the best for your future and career growth.
Thank you
