Hello My Dear Career Aspirant,
From your query it appears that you are from the commerce field and now confused between choosing from two wonderful courses for a good career.
In my more than seven years of career counselling experience and my teaching for some years, I have come across many students like you who are confused between choosing professional courses like CA or MBA. This confusion is very natural and justified since both the courses are very strong on their part and status and both of them are highly regarded and demanded in the industry today.
I am thankful to you for choosing CareerGuide for seeking guidance and clarification for your career confusion.
Chartered Accountancy and MBA:
On the basis of your query, I think you have graduated and now wish to choose one from Chartered Accountancy and MBA for your post graduation / professional qualification.
As mentioned above choosing between the two is not simple.
I would like to present you some facts about both the courses separately
This course is one of the highly reputed and distinguished professional qualification courses in India. The demand for this course qualified candidates is never dying and this course is very challenging however retains and gains extreme importance in the business world.
MBA: MBA is a general management course which is majorly done today by almost every one. There fore since it is of a trend type and almost any body manages to do it, its value in the market has gone down, except only if you do MBA from one of the Top 10 BSchool in India or Top 25 BSchools across the globe.
Choosing between these two:
If you really like technical things, accountancy, audit, taxation, etc, then Chartered Accountancy suits you. IF you want to be in a general profile job, then MBA is good. However you will also see many CAs doing MBA, so that they get the management angle of the business.
I think you should think deeply and if you have the perseverance, determination, dedication, then you can opt for Chartered Accountancy and later on also do your MBA.
CA+MBA is a fantastic combination in the industry today and shall remain so.Please do get back to us in case you wish to ask any more questions or seek more clarification on this query of yours.

Komal you have not provided the proper information with regards to your qualification especially what you have been doing currently. That makes difficult to answer your query.
Well i assume that you have been studying commerce or have completed commerce graduation. In order to go for CA one needs to have completed 12th std. While you get eligible for CA-IPCC as per the ICAI after completing the graduation degree from commerce.
CA is a professional who takes care and maintains of the accounts and auditing of the companies. They are the professionals who take care of the Tax filing part of an individual or of companies. CA professionals are needed in all industries as they are the experts to handle and maintain the accounts. Every year there is need of 50,000 CA professionals in India. CA professionals can start their own independent practise after becoming a certified CA or can also take a job in various financial institutes, comapnies,Insurance Sector or Banking Sector. So the career opportunites for CA's is quite wide. After successfully completing CA one can also go for CFA or Acturial Science which is a good combination.
Talking about MBA they are the management professionals involved in the administrative activities of the comapnies. Their role is to manage and organise the work. Their are various specialisations offered in the MBA. A student need to select the Specialisation as per his interest. The MBA's also do have a good career scope as per their specialisations.
While you can complete your CA and after that you can apply for MBA in Finance. CA+MBA Finance is good combination to gain the career growth.

As per your question, you either wish to persue CA or MBA. Both the career choices are very good and infact much in demand. According to your question you are confused between which one to choose. Firstly, I would like to know from you that are you 100% confident that you wish to make your career in these 2 areas only? If not then I would suggest you to take Career test/ Aptitude Test that will help you to identify in which area does your key strengths lie. After which it may help you to re think about it. If you have firmly decided of opting one out of these 2 options then its important to understand what are the differences in both.
CA or Chartered Accountant will require you to first qualify a CPT exam. It stands for Common Proficiency Test. After which you are required to do Articleship with some practicing CA professional or CA professional providing firms. Then you have a written exam which is divided in 2 groups. Also, the results are very stringent and every year the passing percentage of students is not very high. I am not saying this to demotivate you, but its important to understand what are demands of this course. If number of attempts to clear this exam isn't a worrisome matter for you then its a good career alternative as CA professionals are always in good demand and they do get handsome pay. It mainly deals with Accountancy, Tax, Auditing and Financial Transactions of the company.
On the other hand MBA is more about Management. Within MBA you have lots of options like MBA in HR, Marketing, Finance etc. MBA too requires you to clear a written test. Followed by a Group Discussion round and then personal Interview. You need to be graduate with minimum 50% in your subject. Based on your written test marks, Group Discussion round and Personal Interview round marks you'll get a final score. Based on your score you can apply to different colleges for MBA studies.
Hope I have answered your question. Do write us back for further queries!
Thanks & Regards,Apurva Pandya
