Interesting question and firstly congrats that's a long term or futuristic planning.
As such knowledge on software and programming languages especially JAVA, C++, etc are needed for game development.So as such a Software Graduate is also eligible for working in the gaming industry as a Game developer.
In addition to software knowledge a gamer would require knowledge in terms of Animations too. So, after 12th, any stream, but with math as a subject, you could opt for a BCA program, and follow it up with an MCA program. During the course, you can join a private institute and pursue certifications in Animation and or certificate programs in Animation and gaming.
Due to the market demand in games, there are various institutes that provide, degree ( BFA / B.Sc Gaming), certificates and diploma programs, that any 12th student can pursue.Listing down few Institutes providing the course:

After 10th, you may take science field (PCM) or any other stream.
Career Option after 12th Science (PCM)
Since you are interested in software development, Engineering in IT would be very helpful. You can prepare for All India Entrance and do BE/BTech in IT.
You can also study BSc in IT from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. This is more research oriented course.
You can also pursue BSc in Computer Science from any reputed and recognized University.
Career Option After 12th (Any stream)
You can do BCA from reputed university or college. As suggested by my colleague Meghna, you can pursue BFA / B.Sc Gaming.
If you find science interesting then opt for science preferably with PCM combination. If you feel you can not cope with science then you may opt from commerce or Arts. After 12th from any stream, you can pursue BCA,

Dear Friend, if you want to create games and have an interest in software then you may either seek admission in software engineering, or computer science stream or multimedia and film-making etc. Be sure that you are quite creative and innovative and have a passion for novelty. Get your matric completed and then prepare well for JEE and seek admission in engineering branches related to software and animation or else get admission in bachelors degree of media and animation at any one of the following - School of Engineering and Technology, Jain University, bangalore,...........
