Dear Friend,

Greeting of the day!!!!

JEE Mains is the Qualifying exam for NIT/ IIITS /CFU (Centrally Funded Universities) and thus the score of 86/360 is not very good. Since you are in OBC category then it would be difficult for you to get a good college like NIT with this marks but you have a bleak chance for getting in because of your Percentage in Rajasthan Board which would provide you a good percentile score of above 90.

Now since you have done this without coaching and lack of professional help, it would be considerd as a good performance
Based on the scenarios you would have 2 choice i.e. taking a Drop and preparing again and joining an college which would be offered to you. lets see what can be the advantages and disadvantages of both

DROP: Joining a coaching and preparing again would provide you with one more choice but then it would be the last chance for you since JEE provides you only 2 chances, but the benefit would be that you have full year to concentrate and get in to NIT/IITs. Looking at your score it would be suggestible to take a drop if you are confident about yourself and to improve your score

COLLEGE : if you join a college then you should do it in case you get the choice of Branch of Engineering and the college provide you with good placement opportunities. You can try for some private colleges as well like VIT, SRM, Manipal, NIRMA etc

There would also be an option that you join the college where you are getting admission and during the college( 1st year ) you prepare to improve your score in JEE mains which would happen next year if you can then you join any NIT/IIT otherwise you can continue with your college where you have been provided admission.

Lot of Students do the same to avoid any disappointment which they may have to face in next year. The choice is yours but weigh every decision.

Just to provide you a fact " There are around 55% of student who clear IIT when they decide to take a drop"

Wish you all the best for your studies.

In case of any other query do write back.
