Hello My Dear CFA Aspirant,

CFA is really a dynamic course and my colleague here Ms. Sonia Agrawal has excellently explained about the CFA program. CFA course offered by CFA Institute USA is one of the toughest and there fore very respected and honoured courses in the world of finance.

In my more than seven years of career counselling experience, I have come across students who compare courses. Based on that I would just like to make one point clear that Chartered Accountancy and CFA or MBA and CFA are not comparable in any aspect and are very different course. They are not subsitutes of each other.

I am glad and would like to thank you for approaching CareerGuide.com for seeking clarification on your career query.

CFA Course from CFA Institute USA:

Private Questions

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) course is extremely focused on finance, financial analysis, financial engineering, statistics, mathematics, econometrics. CFAs are considered as the most brainy professionals in the industry. Once a CFA, you get into the high calibre rank of professionals around the world.

CFA from ICFAI:

CFA course is also offered by Institute of Chartered Financial Anaylst of India (ICFAI). ICFAI is an India based Institute and now also an University.

CFA course from ICFAI and CFA course from CFA Institute USA are very very different and please do not get confused or take them as same. The level of complexity in both is hugely different. The real CFAs are those who pass from CFA Institute USA only.

CFA from CFA Institute USA can be done by any graduate having four years of work experience, where as CFA from ICFAI can be done by any graduate without any work experience.

CFAs are generally offered jobs in the following areas and sectors:

  • Rating Agencies
  • Finance companies
  • Banking
  • Stock Market agencies
  • Mutual Funds houses
  • Broking and custodian houses
  • Independent consultancy jobs in financial anaylsis, etc
  • Insurance companies
  • Financial services sector

Fresh CFAs start earning salary of around Rs. 5,00,00 (Ten Lakhs) per annum. As one gains experience this salary goes on increasing and may touch upto Rs. 25,00,000 (Twenty Five Lakhs) per annum.

Scope for CFAs is more in western countries however the demand for CFAs in India is also growing every year.

Best Luck!
