If you have been already registered with Madras University for studying BCom, they should have supplied you the syllabus material for year after year. In case, you haven't obtained one from the University, feel free to ask them for one. Alternatively, look at the syllabus content I am posting in here for you. Please be aware that there might be changes introduced in the syllabus for the year 2014 which has not been officially updated yet. However, I am writing here the syllabus that has been in practice in 2013. Please have a look below.

Semester 3 and 4 forms the second year and you are likely to study the following papers.
Core 9: Business mathematics
Set theory, ratio, eelments and types of sets, operations on sets, proportion and variables, Permutation and combination, Algebra, Binominal theorem, Exponential and logirathmic, Geometric, Differential calculus, Interest and annuity in business, Maxima and minima in business.

Core 10: Logistics and supply chain management
Logistics evolution, Value chain, Inventory carrying, ware housing, material handling, order processing, transportation, issues and challenges.

Core 11: Banking theory, law and practice
Commercial banking, e-banking, collecting banker, opening bank accounts.

Core 12: Business law
Business law, legality of concept, void contracts, contingent contracts, contract of agency, sale of goods and indemnity.
Core 13: Corporate accounting
Values in good will, issues in accounting, accounting principles, Holding companies, liquidation.

Core 14: Business policy and environment
Dimensions of business, Global environment, organizational environment, Organizational analysis and social environment.

Semester 4 includes the following core papers.
Core 15: Business statistics and operations research
Measures of variation, Analysis of time series, graphs and diagrams, Karl pearsons correlation, Hypothesis testing, LPP formulation.

Core 16: Marketing practice
Marketing functions and orientation, marketing environment, consumer behaviour, marketing mix and recent trends in marketing.

Core 17: Principles of management
Management principles and classification, planning, meaning, sets, types, objectives, authority, responsibility, delegation, decentralization, power, leadership, motivation and communication in business.

Core 18: Special accounts
Valuation of goodwill and shares, Accounting for mergers, holding companies, banking company accounts and insurance company accounts.

Core 19: Company law
Share capital, membership, prospectus and secretary

Core 20: Security analysis and portfolio management
Understanding investment and scope, Company analysis components, portfolio management and capital market theory.
