Hello dear student....

To answer the question we need to know your back ground as if you have science and maths in your twelve standard than go for engineering. Economics line is good for commerce students as they are more into it based on their subjects which are relevant to economic honors line. For a science student I thin Engineering is always a better choice, seeing a upward growth in IT industry job opportunities are also more there in engineering line than economics honors. If you see in Placement perspective you will get both on campus and off campus placement offers in engineering, and more job vacancies as compared to economics honors line.
But you need to give entrance exams like AIEEE, IIT etc to enter in engineering colleges and if you got good score you can get into good engineering colleges for this four year course, but in economics it is bit easier some times entrance also not there based on plus two score only you can get admission, but in some colleges entrance can be there and this is only three years course which will save one year for you to become a graduate degree holder, in case you want to do MBA master in business administration it will be faster for you. It depends on you what is your ultimate goal and than you can decide better.

Engineering core branches have more opportunities and have wide scope in future than economics honors, I am not saying economics is useless but it is having less scope than engineering in future.

Apart from this facts one more thing is important your interest areas if you are interested in technical line, would like to work in research and development, testing, production etc. than engineering is best choice but if you like to work in banking, finance, insurance m stock market field than you should go for economics honors. Based on your interest areas and liking's you can opt for any.

Ultimately you have to decide final decision is always yours, based on your interest area what ever you choose the only important factor is hard work, you have to work hard and perform well in any line for better growth and success.

Hope you got the answer
All the best
Thank you
