College is a big decision. There are so many factors to consider when choosing the right college for you: location, class size, cost, and student population just to name a few. The most important thing to keep in mind however is that this will be your home for the next four years! Remember these key points as you search for the best school possible.
1. Location
Consider where you want to live while attending college? What city do you prefer living in or what country would suit you best geographically? This doesn’t necessarily mean staying close by but more about understanding if there’s an opportunity to travel back from time to time and explore new places during study breaks or summer vacations? How does the school’s location affect your family?
2. Class Size
Are you someone who prefers more interaction with professors and classmates or would you rather have a smaller class setting where there is less distraction from other students around the room? Research the student population of different schools to see if there are opportunities for one-on-one time outside of lectures.
3. Costs
It’s important to understand what tuition fees come along with attending college (or even high school!) in each country. These vary depending on which program, degree, level of study, etc. so it’s best to research how much these fees will be before deciding on a particular institution. Keep in mind that some colleges offer scholarships and grants as well!
4. Academics
What area of study do you want to take on in your academic career? This is important for deciding which colleges would be best suited for you based on what they specialize in! For example, if someone wants to pursue an education that focuses on engineering then this individual may want to consider looking at schools such as University College London because it offers one of the highest engineering programs in the world.
5. Cost of Attendance
How much will be attending this school cost? Is there a tuition fee or is it free to attend? What are the dorm fees? What is the cost of food per month for your meal plan and what’s the amount monthly for living off-campus?
6. Affiliations
Is this college associated with other schools like Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, etc.? These prestigious institutions offer countless students opportunities such as internships, study abroad programs, research labs, and more. They’re also often ranked higher than universities without these affiliations so they can make an impact on your career!
7. Option of a hotel/residence hall
Option of a shared suite with two to six students per unit, each having their bedroom but sharing common living space such as kitchenette or dining area. Which food services are available on campus? Is there an all-you-can-eat cafeteria like the Dining Halls at Duke University or is it more informal where you can get breakfast in your dorm every morning before classes start? Offering residential college programs for adults over 21 years old who want to experience life on campus while working full time and earning credits from participating universities. This option would be great if you’re looking for flexibility when it comes to scheduling courses – this allows students to take online classes after work hours that fit around their schedule!
8. Campus Life
What type of campus life does the university offer? Does it have many clubs and organizations for students to get involved with, do they hold regular events where you can meet people of your same interests, how would one describe their social scene? These are all things that someone should consider when deciding if they want a small college town atmosphere or something more metropolitan like London.
9. Dorms
What types of dorm options are available, is it a shared or private room with community bathrooms, does the school provide housing for students who live too far away to commute everyday. Can you join a fraternity or sorority?
What about meal plans? Does the university require that all residents purchase one meal plan each semester? If not, can I use other restaurants on campus like University House at Duke which offers every type of cuisine you could imagine?
How much are tuition costs per year in European currency? Is there financial aid available from scholarship opportunities as well as work study programs where students get paid to do part-time jobs while getting their degree ?”
10. On Campus Housing
There are many different dormitory options when it comes to college and university living. Some institutions offer private rooms, others have communal spaces with shared bathrooms and kitchens, while some schools will even provide the option of a hotel/residence hall-style residence where each student has their own room but shares common areas like kitchenette or bathroom space.
