Nowadays, the dependence on technology has increased which leads to the enhancement of cyber crimes. In the 21st Century, when the boundaries between virtual and real are getting blurred, the implications of our cyber footprint and the rights of netizens continue to be debated. A survey says that around 650 million Indians will be connected to the internet by 2023. According to the National Crime Record Bureau in 2018-2019, there was growth in the registration of cyber crimes which had increased to around 63.5% . Since India is still a developing country and where a lot of illiteracy can be seen. So many Indians who are new to the internet do not know about the personal protection and cybersecurity which lead them to be victims to this cyber crime, identity theft, etc.., From this we can say that there is a lot of need for the experts in cyber law which blends the technology with law.

If you want to go for higher studies after completion of Undergraduate programme in Computer Science and Engineering and interested in law then Cyber Law is the best options what you can have. Cyber laws are enacted with the purpose of prevention and prosecution of any crime committed using any IT or any other methods which require computers or any other devices. There are a massive amount of job opportunities in the market for this. These jobs require technical skills as well as a robust understanding of technical laws. Being a computer Science graduate it will be an added advantage to the cyber law aspirant. 

With the evolution of new technologies around the world India has come up with certain courses on cyber law  at diploma, Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate level. Now a days, some universities started providing B.Tech(Computer Science) with LL.B a six year integrated course.

Eligibility :

As said above, there are a lot of courses in cyber law. The eligibility for various courses were as follows:

Diploma level Courses:

  • In order to be eligible for any of the available diploma courses, candidates have passed 10+2 with the minimum required score from the recognized board.
  • In order to be eligible for the PG Diploma course then the applicant should complete the graduation.

Undergraduate Courses:

  • The aspirant must have passed 10+2 with minimum required aggregate score of 45-50%

Post Graduate Courses:

Cyber Law aspirants seeking admission to PG Course must have to complete their graduation in law or equivalent degree from a recognized university with at least 55% aggregate.

Doctorate 

Masters degree in law or equivalent degree from recognized board with an aggregate of 55%.

Degree in law and Master’s Degree with M.Phil. in Social Science or humanities from a recognized university with not less than 55% marks in aggregate.

A fresher with a degree in cyber law  can either make rules to how companies or individuals may use the internet or protect people becoming victims to cyber crime. The best offers will be from IT Companies, Police Departments, Corporate giants…etc., . Some of them are as follows:

The use of the Internet is growing by leaps and bounds. There is hardly any aspect of our living and work in which we do not use the Internet. With the rise in Internet usage, cyber crimes are also increasing at an alarming rate. To protect common citizens, organisations, and Governments from cybercrimes, we need a very large number of Cyber Lawyers. So, there is a bright future in this field.
